Everest Base Camp Trekking
Tibet Everest base camp trek is one of the most popular treks among the trekkers. This truly is the highest trek in the world! After a stunning flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa, we will spend numerous days in this ancient capital acclimatizing and visiting the Potala Palace, Sera and Drepung monasteries, Barkor Square and Jokhang Temple. Our overland journey to Base Camp includes stops in the frontier towns of Gyantse and Shigatse before we turn off onto the rough 4WD jeep road that leads to the Rongbuk Valley. At 17,000 feet on the north side of Everest sits the modern day base camp. After a couple of needed acclimatization and preparation days, we will begin our step by step plan of hiking to and sleeping at increasingly higher camps. The keys are to reaching 21,000 feet are to pace yourself, stay well hydrated and stay warm in this cold and dry climate. This is your chance to get over the 6,000 meter mark in just your hiking boots. There is no climbing requirement.
